J. J. Blanchfield Dies at Age 90

At the age of 90, John Joseph Blanchfield, retired farmer of Osgoode, died yesterday at his home, 453 Laurier avenue west, after a brief illness.

The late Mr. Blanchfield farmed in the Osgoode district for upwards of 50 years. He retired 12 years ago and came to Ottawa to live. He was unmarried.

He was born on May 22, 1855, son of the late Edward Blanchfield and his wife the former Anastasia Fitzpatrick. He was educated in Osgoode and while resident there, attended St. John’s Catholic Church. During his residence in Ottawa, he was a parishioner of St. Patrick’s Church. Surviving him are his brother, Thomas, and his sister, Catherine, both of Ottawa.

The funeral will be held at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, from McEvoy Brothers funeral parlors to St. John’s Church, Osgoode, for requiem mass. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
